Moving to Bloom Fort Collins? Here's Why Your New Home Might Need a Little Backup

Bloom is one of the most exciting things to happen to the Mulberry Avenue corridor in years. A walkable, thoughtfully designed community right at the gateway to Fort Collins, with parks, trails, a resort-style pool, and homes built by two of Northern Colorado's most respected builders — Hartford and Brightland. If you've bought or are considering a home there, you've made a great call.

But here's something worth thinking about before moving day: where is everything going to go?

The storage reality of right-sized homes

One of Bloom's strengths is its variety of home sizes. Hartford's Cottage collection starts at just over 1,000 square feet — beautifully designed, efficient, and perfect for modern living. Even the larger single-family homes from Brightland top out around 1,875 square feet. These are intentional homes, designed to fit your life rather than accumulate clutter.

That's a feature, not a flaw. But if you're moving from a larger home, a house with a full basement, or even just a place with a two-car garage, you're likely bringing more than your new home can comfortably absorb.

The question isn't whether your furniture fits. It's what happens to the ski gear, the seasonal decorations, the camping equipment, the bikes, the workshop tools, the inherited furniture you're not ready to let go of, and the boxes you haven't unpacked since the last move.

A 5×10 unit changes everything

A self-storage unit isn't a place where things go to be forgotten. Used well, it's an extension of your home — a place where the seasonal and the occasional lives so your daily space stays clear and intentional.

A 5×10 unit at NoCo Self Storage, for example, holds a mattress set, a dresser, several boxes, and a couple of bikes with room to spare. That's $75 a month to keep your new Bloom cottage feeling like the clean, modern space it was designed to be.

A 5×5 — about the size of a large closet — handles ski gear and holiday decorations all year, seasonal clothing rotations, and sports equipment that doesn't belong in your living room.

We're two minutes from your front door

NoCo Self Storage is located at 212 John Deere Drive, right off I-25 and Mulberry, the same road that leads straight to Bloom. You can be at your unit in minutes, whether you're dropping something off during a weekend project or grabbing the camping gear before a trip up to Poudre Canyon.

We offer units from 5×4 all the way up to 10×25, plus outdoor spaces for RVs and boats. Everything is drive-up access, available 24/7 with approval, and rentable online in about five minutes.

Timing matters on move-in day

One of the most stressful parts of moving into a new home, especially a new build, is the gap between when your old place needs to be empty and when your new one is truly ready. Painting isn't done. Appliances haven't arrived. The garage is full of boxes.

A temporary storage unit during move-in takes the pressure off. Stage what you need to live comfortably in your new Bloom home first, and move the rest in over the following weeks on your own schedule. It's a lot more pleasant than tripping over boxes for a month.

A note on RV and boat storage

Bloom is built for people who love Northern Colorado which usually means someone in the household has a kayak, a camper, a boat, or a trailer. If your new home doesn't have room to park it on-site (most don't), we have outdoor 35×10 spaces specifically for RVs, boats, and trailers, also right off Mulberry. These fill up fast in spring, so it's worth reserving early.
